“We’ve all got both light and dark inside of us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That’s who we really are.” – (Sirius Black) Harry Potter
During these times when we have been called to refrain from public outings, I have spent quality time with my children who came back from studying in the US. We were watching Harry Potter movies and my daughter loves the quote I wrote above, so I thought I should reflect upon it in these troubled times.
We are all very anxious, very uncertain about our future and what will happen. We have never lived something like this before and I encourage all of us to find that light inside of us and make our decisions from that place of serenity and calmness. Let’s try to see the positive aspects of the situation and act upon that. Let’s try to find creative solutions to our problems, like we are trying video conferencing classes (which have worked out great so far using Face Time and Zoom), planning ahead as best we can in the midst of confusion like rescheduling SAT & Toefl dates.
I am confident we will all work together (students, high schools, and prospective colleges) to find alternative solutions for our students to meet their needs and offer them the best tools for applications this year.
Let’s stay healthy; let’s do what we have to do; let’s keep studying, planning, and creating; let’s build a brighter tomorrow for all of us.
