For the past year, I have had pain around my hip bone; specifically an area called the psoas. I had been to athletic therapists, tried acupuncture; however, the pain continued.

A few weeks ago, I was with my daughter at the gym, and I complained about my pain, which she was unaware of, since I had not told her about it. Immediately, she examined my posture and how I was positioning my legs throughout the work out. She told me I had to pay attention to my legs, since I was continually rotating them towards the inside and this was hurting my psoas.

I started paying attention to my body and my alignment. I was amazed to realize that I was turning my legs inside while I was sleeping or just watching TV, while standing, at the super market, practically everywhere. I corrected my legs to be facing straight every time I found myself in the inward position, and THE PAIN IS GONE.

My daughter, a Dance major and Kinesiology minor, has devoted extensive time to the study of the human body and even if she deals mostly with dancers, her expertise can also help non-dancers like me.

Regarding your majors in college: THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX. Do not limit yourself to just the areas you are covering. I am sure, that just like my daughter, your knowledge will allow you to see beyond the “walls of a box”, bringing solutions to unsolved problems.
